Dan Peck is currently Principal Tubist of the New York City Ballet Orchestra. He joined the Orchestra in 2017 after 7 years of playing the tuba/bass chair at Chicago! The Musical. Dan received his Bachelor’s Degree in Performance from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where he studied with Scott Mendoker. He received a Master’s Degree in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and took lessons from Toby Hanks. Dan also studied with Warren Deck at the Aspen Music Festival. Aside from the Ballet, Dan is an active freelancer and is a regular substitute with the New York Philharmonic, American Ballet Theater, and Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Dan also performs with the Classical Tahoe Music Festival in Incline Village, Nevada. Notable recordings include John Williams’ Cello Concerto on A Gathering of Friends (Sony Classical), with John Williams, Yo-Yo Ma, and the New York Philharmonic, and Florence Price’s Violin Concerto no.2 on Violin Concertos (Decca), with Randall Goosby, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Equally at home in experimental music and improvisation, Dan has a number of active projects. His tuba/bass/percussion trio The Gate, with Tom Blancarte and Brian Osborne, has recorded eight albums and completed three tours of Europe. Earth Tongues is a trumpet/tuba/percussion trio with Joe Moffett and Carlo Costa, due to release their fifth album in 2025. And another trio, Premature Burial, with saxophonist Matt Nelson and trumpeter Peter Evans, performs again in 2025. Past activities include multiple albums and tours with Anthony Braxton, as well as Ingrid Laubrock, the International Contemporary Ensemble and Signal Ensemble. Dan releases his own music and the music of other friends on his label, Tubapede Records.
Originally from East Brunswick, New Jersey, Dan now lives in Astoria, Queens with his wife, the violinist Erica Dicker. They have a duo called Blood of the Stars, and also have two budgies named Stan and Arvo.
Tom Rainey was born in Pasadena, California in 1957. Since moving to New York in 1978 he has performed and or recorded with the following artists:

Current activities include performing and recording music with the Tom Rainey Trio as well as his quintet, Obbligato. Tom also continues performing with many of the aforementioned artists.
